Research Fellow - BSc(Adv), MBBS

Dr. Chawla is a Clinical Research Fellow and PhD student at the Pleural Medicine Unit, with a research interest in pleural space infections and malignancies. He graduated with MBBS from the University of Queensland in 2010. He completed his training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Blacktown, Westmead and Liverpool Hospitals in Sydney, where he developed an interest in pleural diseases, pleural and lung ultrasound, and interventional pulmonary medicine.

He is passionate about medical education. He convened the inaugural non-invasive ventilation course for trainees in 2020, has been a lecturer for University of Sydney, University of New South Wales and University of Western Australia, and serves on the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand Education and Training subcommittee.

He enjoys travelling, hiking and singing in his spare time.
