Dr Deirdre Fitzgerald (MBBS, MRCP)

Deirdre Fitzgerald is from Ireland and graduated from University College Dublin in 2008. She was accepted on to the Higher Specialist Training Scheme in respiratory medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 2012. During her clinical training thus far, she has developed a keen interest in pleural medicine including pleural ultrasound and procedures. With a view to developing her academic career, while simultaneously receiving sub-specialty training in pleural medicine.

In September 2016 Deirdre moved to Australia to work as a clinical research fellow with Professor Lee. Her aim is to complete an MD in the field of malignant pleural effusion over the next two years while becoming proficient at pleural ultrasound, IPC insertion and the management of complicated pleural disease.

And in her spare time Deirdre loves bike-riding and reading on the beach.
